waistcoat crochet stitch

This is a single crochet stitch,  the only difference is the placement of your hook.  Instead of placing your hook under both loops, look for the V and insert your hook between the V.  Yarn over and pull through the V (two loops on your hook).  Yarn over and pull through both loops to complete the waistcoat stitch.

front post single crochet stitch

This is a single crochet stitch,  the only difference is the placement of your hook.  Instead of placing your hook under both loops place your hook around the post.  Insert your hook from the front of your work to the back, around the post, and out the front.  The post is now in front of your crochet hook.  Yarn over and pull through the post (two loops on your hook).  Yarn over and pull through both loops to complete the front post single crochet (fpsc).

back post single crochet stitch

This is a single crochet stitch,  the only difference is the placement of your hook.  Instead of placing your hook under both loops place your hook around the post.  Insert your hook from the back of your work to the front, around the post, and out the back.  The post is now behind your crochet hook.  Yarn over and pull through the post (two loops on your hook).  Yarn over and pull through both loops to complete the back post single crochet (bpsc).

single crochet cross stitch

This is a single crochet stitch the only difference is you start by yarning over instead of under.  Insert your hook into the stitch, yarn under and pull through the stitch (two loops on your hook).  Yarn over and pull through both loops to complete the single crochet cross stitch (scx-st)

single crochet back bump stitch

This stitch works when you are crocheting in rows. If you look behind a single crochet you will notice a single horizantal loop referred to as the "back bump".  Start with a row of single crochet stitches.  At the end of the row chain one and turn.  When you turn your work the "back bump" is now in front and is accessible.  Instead of inserting your hook into the stitch, insert your hook under the back bump, yarn over and pull through the loop (two loops on your hook).  Yarn over and pull through both looks to complete your single crochet back bump (scbb).
